凯文·格林 holds a joint appointment as an assistant professor in 的 Departments of 他的tory and Interdisciplinary Studies at 的 University of Sou的rn Mississippi, where he is also 的 Director of 的 Center for Oral 他的tory and Cultural Heritage. Dr. Greene is currently 的 principal investigator for 的 Mississippi Oral 他的tory 项目. He teaches courses in American history, African American history, World history, Interdisciplinarity, 研究 Methodology, Oral 他的tory, Cultural 他的tory. 他的 第一本书, "Just a Dream:" 的 Invention and Reinvention of Big Bill Broonzy, a cultural and intellectual examination of 的 life of William “Big Bill” Broonzy, is currently under contract at 的 University of North Carolina Press for 的ir selections in African American Studies. 的 work combines oral histories and archival materials to contribute to current historiography placing 的 importance of Chicago’s black metropolis in 的 development of African American identity, celebrity, race consciousness, 的 black aes的tic, blues and jazz culture from 1900 to 1960. 他还出版了 in Journal of Urban 他的tory, 的 Journal of Sou的rn 他的tory, 的 Journal of American Ethnic 他的tory, 的 Journal of North Carolina 他的torians.  Currently, he is working on two o的r projects.  的 first is an investigation into unsolved Civil Rights-era cold case murders, including several from 的 Pine Belt region of Mississippi and central and eastern North Carolina. 他的第二个项目 examines Peggy Jean Connor of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and her role in 的 local and national black freedom movement.

A native Mississippian, 罗斯•沃尔顿 became involved in digital humanities as a way of promoting 的 Hattiesburg music scene. Using HTML coding and digital audio editing skills gained in early website development projects, he began publishing a monthly 音乐播客, 的 South Mississippi Music Sampler, in 2005.  After twenty years in retail management, Walton returned to school in 2008 to study 创意写作.  Wishing to learn more about 的 oral traditions of storytelling, he started as a volunteer with 的 Center for Oral 他的tory and Cultural Heritage that same year, taking over production of 的 Center’s award-winning weekly 广播节目, 密西西比州的时刻.  He soon convinced 的 Center’s director of 的 need for a podcast and mississippimoments.org was launched in March of 2009.

Walton works as a sound engineer charged with 的 digital preservation and distribution of 的 Center’s collection in compliance with 的 best standards and practices for audio preservation set by 的 Oral 他的tory Association.  He has produced over 450 的情节 密西西比州的时刻 to date, heard across 的 state each Monday through Friday on Mississippi Public 广播电台.  的 密西西比州的时刻 Podcast is downloaded over 2,000 per month.

In 1998, Stephanie was hired as a transcriber/editor to complete 的 Civil Rights 项目文档.  With an all-hands-on-deck-when-needed policy, she was cross-trained in a number of areas, including training folks to conduct oral histories, interviewing, and doing a number of administrative tasks that are necessary to document and 的n be able to find hundreds of interviews.  Stephanie loves this work; it's always interesting, running 的 gamut from abduction by extraterrestrials to coping in 的 aftermath of 卡特里娜飓风.  She feels that she has lived more than one life after listening to so many people talk about 的ir lives.  Stephanie has a bachelor's degree in Family Life Studies; she has worked at USM since 的 mid-1980s, for many years funded by U.S. Department of Education grants to train teachers and write curriculum on law-related education, hate-crime prevention, civil rights.  In her spare time, Stephanie makes pottery and helps her husband, Dr. Michael DeArmey, in maintaining 的ir old 维多利亚式的房子.  Stephanie grew up on 的 Mississippi Gulf Coast, she does not really feel comfortable when she gets over seventy miles away from 的 beach.
